Maddy is currently a fourth-year medical student in the Pennsylvania State University/Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University accelerated BS/MD program. During her undergraduate time at Penn State, she majored in pre-medicine and minored in Spanish. She was on the dean’s list every semester for high GPA and graduated cum laude. She also worked at a research laboratory at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she tested postoperative ligament and joint strength in rats. Maddy began doing research projects in high school, and understands how important it is to have research experience in order to be a competitive BS/MD applicant.

During medical school, Maddy volunteered as a Spanish translator at a local clinic, started her own club to help students find research opportunities, and worked in a genetics lab studying rare dermatologic conditions. She was inducted into the prestigious AOA honors society for her academic, volunteering, and leadership achievements earlier this year. Maddy also served as an anatomy tutor for preclinical students, was a medical volunteer at a local homeless shelter, and was a “Big” student mentor to younger students in the BS/MD program.

Maddy is very passionate about mentorship and instilling an appreciation for medicine in high school students, especially those in underserved communities. Maddy applied to several seven-year BS/MD programs, and was accepted into those at Penn State, Drexel, and the University of the Sciences. Maddy hopes to continue her efforts in mentoring students seeking a place in medicine by working with them as their coach at PremedHQ.
