Ericka von Kaeppler is a fourth year MD/PhD student at Stanford School of Medicine where she studies bone biology and is interested in pursuing a career as an orthopedic surgeon-scientist. She graduated from Yale University in 2013 with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. At Yale, she was a member of the Varsity Basketball team and worked in the Horowitz Lab studying the interface of bone biology and immunology. Through her transformative experiences in athletics and in the lab, Ericka developed a passion for sports medicine and ultimately hopes to improve orthopedic medicine through basic science research.
Ericka has long held a passion for mentorship and teaching, serving as an athletics coach, tutor, and mentor for various organizations since high school. Currently, she is a mentor for the Stanford Women in Medicine program, mentoring female undergraduates through the premed process. She finds both joy and inspiration in sharing the lessons she has learned from her own life, so she is very excited for the opportunity to continue this work as a PremedHQ coach.
